Maximising Your VCE Marks

Get Ahead. Reduce Stress & Study Loads. Maximise SAC & Examination Marks.

Dates: Monday 9 to Friday 20 January 2023
Venue: The University of Melbourne (Parkville Campus)
Delivery: In Person (Face-to-Face) Lectures

The summer break gives every student the opportunity to get ahead in their studies and reduce stress levels and study loads in 2023. Studies also show that students who work through course materials ahead of school receive significantly higher marks (up to 21% higher)* than those students who don’t pre-read materials before their classes.

Students aiming for the highest possible marks should therefore be investing a generous amount of time over the summer holidays to revise the key concepts from the last unit covered at school and to work through the topics that will be covered in Term 1 and Term 2 before they’re covered at school.

The Fastest & Easiest Way to Get Ahead

Working through materials on your own, however, can be slow, tedious and ineffective – especially during the holidays when there are more enticing activities to indulge in instead of studying!

Our ‘Summer School Head Start’ program has therefore been designed to ensure that:

# you get ahead;
# you’re well prepared for your first round of SACs;
# and you secure the best possible advantage in the VCE

in the fastest and least painful way!

To ensure you receive every possible advantage in the VCE, our lectures are prepared and delivered by hand-picked, qualified, experienced VCE teachers from top performing schools (not university students). Our teachers include authors of VCE texts and study guides, writers and markers (assessors) of your VCE exams, as well as leading experts in their subject fields.

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to reduce stress, cut down on study and maximise VCE marks.

Important Note

As the marks received in Unit 1 and Unit 2 don’t directly contribute to an ATAR, many Year 11 students dedicate the minimum amount of time (and effort) to study, incorrect in their belief there will be plenty of opportunities to catch up in Year 12 if required. Students who start their Unit 3 studies lacking strong foundations in key Year 11 concepts will find it difficult to cope with new course materials and will obtain lower SAC marks and subject ranks than otherwise possible.

Many of the topics from the Unit 1 and Unit 2 course form the backbone of Year 12 studies, which is why it’s so important to develop strong subject foundations and robust application skills in Year 11 if you’re aiming for the higher ATAR results in your final year at school.

Those students who do commit to a solid and consistent study effort in Year 11 will develop a distinct advantage in Year 12, outperforming their peers in SACs and examinations; maximising their state-wide ranking and ATAR ‘score’.

Important Points

To ensure you secure every possible mark in your SACs and exams, our ‘Summer School Head Start Lectures’ are prepared and delivered by experienced VCE teachers who are current or recent VCE exam assessors (VCAA) – the very same teachers who will be marking your VCE exams!

Don’t be tempted by organisations that use university students as their lecturers. They may have obtained a high ATAR or study score, but this DOES NOT equip a recent VCE graduate with the knowledge that’s required to prepare students for their SACs and exams. As an example, a student who obtained a study score of 45 in Mathematical Methods only answered about 79% of Exam 2 correctly! Recent VCE graduates can’t teach you how and where marks are awarded, which terms or statements must be included in exam responses, and alternate answers that would also receive full marks. This information is restricted to VCE exam markers and can make a huge difference to your VCE marks.

Knowing how the exams are marked also gives VCE exam markers the ability to guide you through the exam preparation process in the quickest and most effective way. You’ll spend your time revising what really matters, and you can’t get that kind of guidance from recent high school graduates who have no teaching experience, and who don’t have access to the detailed insights our teachers provide.

TSFX really is the best choice to give you that important head-start into Unit 1 or Unit 3.

# You will work through key Unit 1 and/or Unit 3 topics ahead of school in a highly effective and relatively painless way!
# You will get a huge head start to Unit 1 and/or Unit 3. Your studies at school will become easier & homework will become simpler.
#
#
You will save countless hours in study time (it’s much faster to have an experienced teacher take you through course materials than working through them on your own).
# You will ensure you have the correct skills and information in place so you can cope with the volume and difficulty of 2023 course materials.
#
#
While other students struggle to understand new concepts being presented in class, you’ll be hearing this information for the second time.
As a result:
Your understanding of examinable materials will improve.
As you’ll write fewer notes in class, you can direct your full attention to what your teachers are saying.
Your ability to apply concepts will greatly improve and you’ll get more out of your classes at school.
You can use the time spent in class consolidating your learnings and asking your teachers the tough and insightful questions you wouldn’t usually think of until you’re revising for a SAC or exam.
You won’t get stuck on questions as frequently, reducing the time spent on homework and SAC preparations.
You’ll develop more confidence in your abilities and be less likely to procrastinate your studies, reducing stress levels and study loads across the year.
# Your SAC marks and subject ranks will also significantly improve, giving you that added advantage in the quest for the highest possible marks.

Unfortunately, there are significant differences between the various VCE program providers, including variations in teaching philosophies and styles, how thoroughly subject materials are addressed, and the quality and quantity of notes that are given to students.

So how does TSFX differ from other VCE program providers?

Difference #1:

We deliver the highest quality VCE programs in the state.

Testimonials from past students attest to the fact that TSFX is the pre-eminent VCE program provider in Victoria.

Irrespective of which program you choose to attend, you can be confident you’ll receive the same exceptional quality that is our trademark.  At TSFX, we pride ourselves on the quality of our services, and year after year, we consistently deliver the finest and most comprehensive VCE programs available in Victoria. From our highly qualified and knowledgeable teachers, right through to our courses and notes, you can be assured that our exceptional level of quality is present in every aspect of TSFX.

Difference #2:

Our academic program is designed and delivered using a unique pedagogical model developed by TSFX that integrates the HITS professional learning program; a framework adopted by the International Baccalaureate program and the world’s leading universities.

Difference #3:

Our programs are usually longer & more thorough than other VCE courses.

Students need to be exposed to more than just simple overviews if they’re aiming for the highest possible marks. Our programs are therefore longer in duration, ensuring that you get the best instruction and value for your time and money, as well as the highest possible VCE marks.

Difference #4:

We employ experienced VCE teachers & VCE exam assessors (VCAA)(not uni students)

To ensure you receive every possible advantage in the VCE, our programs are prepared and delivered by hand-picked, qualified, experienced VCE teachers and VCE exam markers/assessors (VCAA) from top performing schools. Our teachers include authors of VCE textbooks, writers and markers of your VCE exams, as well as leading experts in their subject fields. Their wealth of experience is priceless.

Note:

The majority of university students who present VCE lectures and tuition classes have not received formal instruction in the majority of topics they are ‘teaching’. These students graduated before many VCE subjects underwent significant changes to their Study Design and are self-taught, using limited information that doesn’t cover the scope required for the higher VCE marks.

A high ATAR or study score DOES NOT equip a recent VCE graduate with a degree that provides no formal instruction or training in teaching WILL NOT have the skills, knowledge or experience that are crucial if students are to be prepared correctly for their VCE assessments. These graduates, as well as many teachers, will not have the knowledge or experience required to teach students how to set out answers in accordance with the VCE examination marking schemes, confirm which terms or statements have to be included and identify alternate answers that would also receive full marks. This information is restricted to VCE exam assessors appointed by VCAA – the teachers who mark the official VCE exams. VCE exam assessors also have access to other important information that many teachers aren’t aware of, and which can make a huge difference to your VCE marks.

Learning from the people who write and assess the VCE exams and who teach the subjects every day will always exceed the benefits of learning from university students who recently completed their VCE. Experience is the best teacher, and a crucial asset at this end-game stage of 12+ years of schooling, otherwise known as ‘the VCE’.

Difference #5:

Our A+ subject notes far exceed the quality of notes issued by other VCE program providers.

TSFX is very highly regarded for the quality of our program materials – our students receive the most comprehensive and detailed A+ subject notes when they enrol into our lectures and weekly tuition classes.

Our exam preparation notes include every key concept that could be examined, as well as hundreds of examination-style questions that are not commercially available and frequently appear in the VCE exams! As an example, students who attended our recent Unit 3 Exam Revision Lectures received the following materials, saving them countless hours in exam preparation time:

Chemistry: Over 400 pages of notes and 320 exam-style questions.
Maths Methods: Over 400 pages of notes and 300 exam-style questions.

No other VCE program provider has been able to match the quality and depth of materials that are given to students who attend TSFX programs!

Difference #6:

We continually invest in our courses and materials.

Our authors are required to update and improve our program materials on a yearly basis so that students attending our programs obtain the best possible instruction and resources that reflect the annual changes in examination marking and question trends.

To help make your exam preparations even easier, we also integrate the important applications and ideas from popular textbooks and study resources into our course materials.

We continually invest in our courses and materials to ensure our students receive every possible advantage in their VCE.

Note:

No other VCE program provider has been able to match the quality and depth of materials that are given to students who attend TSFX programs.

Difference #7:

We offer over 32 years experience in the VCE.

TSFX’s vast history of real-world experience in providing educational services to Year 11 and Year 12 students means that you can be confident that we have a genuine understanding of what’s required to obtain the highest ATAR results.

We’ve spent over 32 years analysing student concerns and the effects of study habits on academic performance, to create powerful programs that enable every student to reach their full academic potential. We’ve helped thousands of past students realise their ATAR goals and look forward to helping you achieve your personal best in the VCE.

Difference #8:

We offer a proven track history of unrivalled VCE success & can significantly boost your VCE marks.

TSFX offers a proven track history of unrivalled ATAR success. We get results, and can make a significant difference to your final marks.

The median ATAR for our 2021 Master Class students: 94.45
The median ATAR for our 2021 lecture students: 90.22

Our reputation for excellence is built on our long history of highly successful students, as well the exceptional quality of our teachers, programs and learning resources.

Why Should I Attend?

You will be taught by and receive up to date advice from official exam assessors (the focus of the exams and the marking schemes change on a regular basis). Assessors have access to important information that many teachers aren’t aware of, and which can make a significant difference to your ATAR result.

Knowing how the exam marking system works also gives assessors the ability to guide you through the SAC/exam preparation process in the quickest and most effective way. You’ll spend your time revising what really matters, and you can’t get that kind of guidance from recent high school graduates who have no teaching experience, and who don’t have access to the detailed insights our teachers provide.

The world’s leading educational specialists agree that lectures are the fastest and most effective way to revise and consolidate large amounts of information in a short time frame. Not only is it much faster to have an experienced teacher take you through the revision process, using audio and visual delivery processes enables you to work through and remember 5 times more information than if you were to work through the same materials on your own.

TSFX is highly regarded for the quality of our program materials – our students receive the most comprehensive and detailed exam preparation notes available that include every key concept that could be examined, as well as hundreds of examination-style questions that are not commercially available. As an example, students who attended our recent ‘Unit 3 Exam Revision Lectures’ received the following materials, saving them countless hours in exam preparation time:

Chemistry: Over 400 pages of notes and 320 exam-style questions.
Maths Methods: Over 400 pages of notes and 300 exam-style questions.

We constantly invest in our courses and materials to ensure our students receive every possible advantage in their VCE.

Our notes are improved and extended upon each year so that they reflect the annual changes in examination marking and question trends. To help make your exam preparations even easier, we integrate the important concepts and applications from the main textbooks and study resources into our course materials.

Note:

No other program provider has been able to match the quality and depth of materials that are issued to students who attend TSFX programs.

You will learn how examination papers are marked, how answers must be presented if they are to be awarded full scores, why common responses do not earn marks and how to minimise mistakes in the exams. The majority of class time is spent working through examination-style questions, as well as those questions that will serve to differentiate between the A/A+ and B grade scores.

You will gain thorough exposure to the questions and tricks that could appear in the exams. (Students regularly comment that many of the questions they cover during our programs appear in the actual exams!)

You will correct problem areas and hear information from a different perspective – improving the quality of exam responses and how well information can be applied in unfamiliar applications.

You will strengthen, consolidate and extend on the materials covered at school, and develop an added advantage over your state-wide peers.

You will dramatically reduce stress levels during the semester and find more time for leisure activities.

You will minimise procrastination opportunities and ensure you get the most from your study sessions.

You will greatly improve your confidence levels and maximise Year 11 and Year 12 marks!
