Summer School

Get Ahead, Reduce Stress & Improve HSC Marks

The summer break gives students the opportunity to get ahead in a time-efficient and relatively painless manner and revise Term 4 – 2019 course materials to HSC exam standard.

Dates: Monday 13th – Friday 24th January 2020
Venue: The University of Technology, Sydney

  • We’ll take you through the key topics from the Unit 2 or Unit 4 course, in a relaxed, step-by-step manner.
  • We’ll introduce you to a large collection of potential SAC questions.
  • You’ll receive a complete set of A+ notes – saving you the time and effort of producing your own study materials.
  • We’ll work through the applications that typically appear in the “open book” mathematics examinations.
  • You’ll develop your problem-solving/analytical skills – skills that are needed to get those higher SAC marks.

The VCAA exams will assess an entire year’s work, and count for up to two-thirds of each subject’s Study Score. The amount of material that needs to be committed to memory is substantial, resulting in high levels of stress and study in the challenging months leading up to the final HSC exams.

  • You’ll revise and consolidate Unit 3 while materials are fresh in mind.
  • You’ll extend your learning to VCAA exam standard and reduce stress and
pressure at the end of the year.
  • You’ll make a huge impact on exam preparations with advice from official HSC
    exam markers
    .
  • You’ll commit knowledge to memory in the shortest amount of time.
  • You’ll cover the more difficult concepts within a subject (and not simply revise
    basic principles).
  • You’ll gain additional exposure to highly probable examination questions.
  • You’ll develop and extend on problem-solving and application skills.
  • You’ll learn how to set out answers in accordance with the marking schemes used by VCAA exam markers.
  • You’ll master examination tricks/skills, and learn how to avoid potential sources of errors.
  • You’ll obtain a comprehensive set of A+ notes that detail every key concept that may be examined.
  • You’ll achieve higher HSC marks.

So maximise your holidays and save hundreds of hours in study time with the TSFX Winter School lectures.

Why Choose TSFX?

Your final years at school are the most challenging, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Having extra support and guidance from key educational professionals can make all the difference—giving you the best chance to secure the marks you deserve without undue stress.

However, caution is key. There are huge quality differences among lecture/seminar providers claiming to provide that extra support. There are variations in teaching philosophies and styles, how thoroughly subject materials are addressed, and the quality and quantity of support materials that are issued to students.

So how does TSFX differ from other lecture/program providers?

To ensure you receive every possible advantage in the HSC, our programs are prepared and delivered by hand-picked, qualified, experienced HSC teachers and VCAA assessors from top ranking schools. Our teachers include authors of HSC textbooks, writers and markers of your VCAA exams, as well as leading experts in their subject fields. Their wealth of experience is priceless.

Note:

The majority of university students who present HSC lectures and tuition classes have not received formal instruction in most of the topics they’re teaching. These students graduated

before many HSC subjects underwent significant changes to their Study Design and are self-taught, using limited information that does not cover the scope required for the higher HSC marks.

Furthermore, recent HSC graduates lack the knowledge and experience required to teach students how to set out answers in accordance with the VCAA marking schemes. This information is usually restricted to VCAA exam assessors – the teachers who mark the HSC exams. VCAA exam assessors also have access to important information that many teachers aren’t even aware of, and which can make a huge difference to your HSC marks.

Learning from the people who write and assess the exams and who teach the subjects every day will always exceed the benefits of learning from university students who recently completed their HSC. Experience is the best teacher, and an important asset at this end-game stage of Year 12.

The role of TSFX is to build on the teaching that takes place in schools and to provide students with as many academic advantages as possible. This includes:

  • Correcting problem areas
  • Reviewing and expanding on what’s been covered at school
  • Developing problem-solving and analysis skills
  • Exposure to a wide variety of potential examination questions
  • Learning the various tricks and traps that appear in exams
  • Strategies, skills and techniques for effective exam taking
  • Exposure to different perspectives
  • Insider advice on how to achieve above-average examination marks
  • Effective study habits and time-saving learning techniques

TSFX is highly regarded for the quality of our program materials – our students receive the most comprehensive and detailed exam preparation notes available. As an example, students who attended our Unit 3 Exam Revision Lectures last year received the following materials, saving them countless hours in exam preparation time.

Elite HSC Teachers

To give you the best chance of success, we use qualified HSC teachers and exam assessors (not unqualified university students).

You will be taught by and receive up to date advice from official exam assessors (the focus of the exams and the marking schemes change on a regular basis). Assessors have access to important information that many teachers aren’t aware of, and which can make a significant difference to your ATAR result.

Knowing how the exam marking system works also gives assessors the ability to guide you through the exam preparation process in the quickest and most effective way. You’ll spend your time revising what really matters, and you can’t get that kind of guidance from recent high school graduates who have no teaching experience, and who don’t have access to the detailed insights our teachers provide.

Save Time

The world’s leading educational specialists agree that lectures are the fastest and most effective way to revise and consolidate large amounts of information in a short time frame. Not only is it much faster to have an experienced teacher take you through the revision process, using audio and visual delivery processes enables you to work through and remember 5 times more information than if you were to work through the same materials on your own.
